PARENTING - NOT AN EASY JOB
Parenting - not an easy job
I thought it was easy. I thought it was just another simple thing to do in life. After all, I have been through life so much that I believed there is nothing in this world that will be difficult for me to handle.
Having a child is truly a blessing, and I’m sure that no one will argue on this (unless you are one of the few who dislike children). Children are blessings from GOD, they embody unconditional love and purity. For me, they are GOD’s message to humanity that we are good and loved by HIM and HE is sending us an angel. And a great task comes with it – to take care of the angel.
Parenting, not an easy job
Parenting comes in – to provide the child the love, the food, and the education he needs. And this comes along with many complications such as how to manage your time so that you’ll have enough time for your child, enough time for work so that you can provide for your child, etc. You are tasked to develop an individual whether he becomes an asset or a detriment to the society, it is in your hand. You are tasked to build the future. This is a lifelong responsibility.
Parenting is pure love. You are not compensated for it. Sometimes you are not even getting any appreciation for it. It’s okay, you are doing unconditional love anyway. But is it really okay? Deep inside, we long for some appreciation and this causes some frustration… depression sometimes? It is okay, you are doing okay. It will help if you would set aside some specific and regular time for yourself. Reward yourself for doing such a great job. And remember, God is the one who entrusted you this angel. Then ask for HIS guidance to be successful in this lifelong task HE assigned to you, PRAY.
Conflicts
Some
of the conflicts that you will encounter as a parent is the unaligned parenting
style between you and your partner. This caused the child to be confused, and as a
result, nothing will work for the child. Parents should talk this out seriously
and must agree in one system of rearing and disciplining the child.
The teenager
And as the child grows, the difficult teenage time comes- the most difficult time to handle your child. You would wish to go back to the hardship of parenting a baby or a toddler rather than a teenager. Yes, teenagers are the most difficult to handle.
Your
once sweet and fully transparent little girl does not want to be checked
anymore. Your once obedient little boy does not want you meddling with his
affairs anymore. They are emotionally separated from you now. These hurt you,
and you may not be able to handle it.
However,
we must accept this. We must give our teenagers some leeway to establish their
own identity. We must understand and accept that they need to establish their
independence but not brushing us off. Establish the line of what is acceptable
and not acceptable to avoid disagreement and conflicts.
The love
The
unconditional love for our children is pure and true. It is always there, no
matter what. The children may not realize this immediately, but will eventually
realize this. We do not give up on our children, pray for help if needed, but
do not give up.
The promise
With all the hardships that come with parenting, know that your reward for a parenting job well done comes from above. God knows that it is not an easy job, even before he assigned it to you. Remember, HE even instructed the children to HONOR their parents. In Exodus 20:12 when GOD spoke the Ten Commandments, he commanded: “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.”. This is how honorable we parents are.
Indeed,
parenting is not easy. And GOD assigns the most difficult task to the strongest
ones. Hence, we should be proud of this trust bestowed to us by the MOST
INTELLIGENT ONE. We can do it, otherwise, HE should have not assigned it to us.
Be proud, you are a parent.
